The day the Etxebeste family sets off for Marbella on holiday, having announced their departure to all neighbours, they don’t have a penny to their name.

They don’t have the cash to leave, but what would the neighbours say if they found out?

They pack their cases, put them in the car and wave goodbye. But midnight sees them silently returning so that no-one will spoil their plan: to spend their holidays locked inside the house while everyone thinks they are away.

 

 

Asier Altuna and Telmo Esnal have been working in different films as technicians for
many years.

Asier Altuna has been working as lightning team member and scriptwriter in the last years.

Telmo Esnal after working as a producer, worked as director’s assistant in
several films.

Then the idea of directing together a short film called “Txotx”, followed by“40 ezetz” and “ Topeca”.

GO ETXEBESTE! is their first film.

“GO ETXEBESTE! was born from a conversation between friends in August when our village and those around us were virtually deserted.

We couldn’t stop talking about something that had happened in the next village: the members of a family had closed themselves into their house for the whole month of August while the neighbours thought they’d gone on holiday to a beach resort in the South of Spain.

We kept coming up with situations that the family must have been experiencing, like trying not to make noise, peering through cracks or practicing the return from their holidays, etc., when we realised that we had the perfect story for a movie!”
